Caratterizzata dal gambo lungo e profondamente interrato che finisce con un ingrossamento (sclerozio) alla base che dovrebbe servire da sostentamento al carpoforo.

è attraverso lo sclerozio che il fungo entra in relazione di parassitismo con i peli radicali di Anemeno nemorosa
