Molto diffuso nel nord Italia specialmente nei Boschi di conifere e latifoglie,

ma non disdegna anche il resto della penisola come in questo caso.

Può avere cappello sia vellutato/opaco che viscido/lucente

di colorazione bruno/marrone.

Pori e tubuli prima gialli poi olivastri, si macchiano di blu alla pressione,

ed anche la carne che si presenta biancastra tende ad assumere colorazione bluastra al tocco.

Il gambo è sodo e pieno,

normalmente concolore o su gradazioni più chiare del cappello.

Il periodo di crescita è quello estivo-autunnale.

Ne viene sconsigliato il consumo, nonostante la commestibilità, perchè tende a accentrare elementi radioattivi.
