Fungo che predilige il fondo sterrato e battuto di stazioni montane aperte, talora anche sul fondo di stade sassose, più raramente nei boschi; in estate autunno, molto diffusa e comune.

 

Ascocarpo di dorma cupolata-discoide con orlo intero, spesso lobata, imenoforo liscio rosso aranciato, carne fragile.
