Etimologia
Da Bernard, da nome proprio.

Habitat/Periodo Di Comparsa
Cresce nelle radure costiere e nelle vicinanze dei boschi litorali; meno comune altrove. Estate-Inverno.

Descrizione
Cappello 4-15 cm, massiccio, di colore biancastro/ocraceo, talvolta con squamature; margine fortemente involuto.
Lamelle fitte, libere, rosa-grigiastre; filo sterile.
Gambo tozzo, corto, bianco-brunastro, appuntito e squamoso alla base; anello infero, biancastro.
Carne bianca, fortemente arrossante al taglio, dallo sgradevole odore di pesce.

Commestibilità
Non commestibile.
