E' sicuramente uno dei più comuni Lactarius di habitat mediterraneo, ma la distinzione con Lactarius zonarius e Lactarius mediterranensis appare decisamente ardua.

Caratteristiche di acerrimus le lamelle con sfumature rosa anastomosate al gambo, il lattice decisamente acre --> bianco immutabile, le spore grandi per un lactarius sopra i 10 micron.

 

Zonarius ha latice inizialmente di sapore mite poi progressivamente acre e lamelle con sfumature tendenti al giallo

Mediterranensis è cartterizzato dalla presenza di vistosi scrobicoli concentrici al bordo del cappello e il lattice vira al giallo
